FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
When does the next course start?

Just turn up to class in your comfortable clothes and closed-in shoes with a thirst for knowledge and matching positive attitude! Essentials like high quality grooming tools, modern equipment, several student dogs to practise on, even a uniform, will be provided for you. Along with course materials, each student is also provided a high quality “Angels Intermediate level Student Scissor set” (straight, curved, thinner and comb in a carry case) to use during their course and to take with them on their grooming journey.
What do I bring to my course?
What if I have no previous experience working with animals?
Our Foundations of Dog Grooming course was specifically designed with the complete beginner in mind. The course is very logically laid out and you are taken through each unit step by step to ensure a thorough theoretical and practical understanding of dog grooming for beginners. If you love dogs and believe in putting their health and well-being above all else, then this is the right course to begin your grooming journey with.
Do I gain a formal qualification after completing the Foundations of Dog Grooming course?
Upon completion of the course, you will receive a CAGIA Certificate stating the course areas covered and the hours completed, signed by an International Master Groomer. Your tutor is also happy to assist with a personal reference, if desired. Your hours and experience all add value to your CV in the eyes of an employer and potential customers will always look favourably on groomers who sought quality groomer training before tending to their pet, over those that did not.
Our courses are currently held in a professional, clean and modern grooming salon with all the creature comforts you would expect in a state-of-the-art salon, and more! Located only a few kilometers from Perth’s Central Business District, there is ample and free onsite parking and cafes only a few moments walk away.
We look forward to welcoming you to CAGIA’s dedicated state-of-the-art training facility in the near future.
Where are classes held?
What if I don’t learn as quickly as others?
Our goal is to provide an encouraging and positive learning environment for all students where you feel comfortable and confident to ask questions and for extra help if you need it. The only silly question is the one you don’t ask! The benefit of small class sizes is that your teacher has more flexibility when it comes to tailoring teaching styles and methods to suit and it also ensures you get the attention you need to succeed.
What about starting my own business?
Grooming is a growing industry and a great business opportunity awaits the right person. We cover some basics of business structures and fundamentals for setting up your own salon in our Foundations of Dog Grooming course, and we can then point you in the right direction for basic business courses to ensure you are equipped to run your business.
There is a group of us wanting to complete the course together, can we arrange to do the course as a private group?

We can even be flexible on course days and times for the 5 week period, if you are booking as a private group. Please get in touch to discuss options further.
